چکیده

Granulocytic sarcoma, a localized extramedullary tumor composed of myeloid blasts, develops in 2–6% of patients at the time of newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML).1,2 Granulocytic sarcoma relapse following an allogeneic stem-cell transplant (SCT) is associated with marrow relapse in 20% of patients.2 Isolated granulocytic sarcoma following an allogeneic transplant is rare, seen in only 0.7% of patients and generally observed between 4 and 56 months after transplant, with 56 months being the longest reported duration from transplant to relapse.3 Unfortunately, the majority of patients previously treated with an allogeneic SCT who relapse with an isolated granulocytic sarcoma do poorly, with a median survival of only 10 months.3 Death is often related to progressive AML. Isolated granulocytic sarcoma relapse after an allogeneic SCT generally precedes marrow relapse in 95% of patients, with systemic relapse occurring within 12 months.4

Granulocytic Sarcoma by AML M4eo (inv16) after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation without Bone Marrow Involvement

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) represents a rare type of extramedullar manifestation from the acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). We report the case of a patient with recurrences of AML M4eo leukaemia in the uterus and the small intestine at 3 and 5 years, respectively, after matched related peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT). The patient underwent the withdrawal of immunosuppression, hys...

A case of donor-derived granulocytic sarcoma after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

The occurrence of granulocytic sarcoma as a pattern of relapse after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is rare. In this paper, we report a rare case of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) relapsed as a granulocytic sarcoma of the donor type. The patient was diagnosed as having AML and underwent an allo-HSCT from his matched sibling donor. Fifty-seven months after allo-HSCT...

Isolated Granulocytic Sarcoma of the Breast after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation: A Rare Involvement Also Detected by 18FDG-PET/CT

Granulocytic sarcoma is a tumor consisting of myeloid blasts with or without maturation that occurs at an anatomical site other than bone marrow. Most frequently affected sites are skin, lymph nodes, gastrointestinal tract, bone, soft tissue and testes. AML may manifest as granulocytic sarcoma at diagnosis or relapse. Although it has been considered to be rare relapse as granulocytic sarcoma af...

Immunohistochemical patterns in the differential diagnosis of rhinopharyngeal granulocytic sarcoma.

Granulocytic sarcoma (GS) is a rare extramedullary manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). GS may develop simultaneously to AML or as a relapse of leukemia, particularly following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Subperiosteal bone, lymph nodes and skin are commonly involved, whereas rhinopharyngeal involvement is less common, with only 14 cases reported in the literature. ...

Bilateral Maxillary, Sphenoid Sinuses and Lumbosacral Spinal Cord Extramedullary Relapse of CML Following Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant

Isolated extramedullary relapse of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) after allogeneic stem cell transplant is rare. There is a case report of a child who developed a granulocytic sarcoma of the maxillary and sphenoid sinuses and lumbosacral spinal cord mass 18 months after allogeneic bone marrow transplant for CML. He was presented with per orbital edema and neurological deficit of lower extre...
